<p>Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has rejected his inclusion in the policy team of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential campaign.</p>
<p>Moghalu, in a statement, said he was surprised to see his name on the list, insisting that he was never contacted before the announcement was made public.</p>
<p>He said he was neither consulted nor gave his consent before his name was published as a member of the policy team of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate.</p>
<p>Moghalu stressed that he is not part of Atiku’s policy team, either officially or unofficially, and does not serve in any advisory capacity to the former vice president.</p>
<p>He also said he had stayed away from partisan politics since 2022 and had remained politically neutral.</p>
<p>“I am not a member or sympathizer of any political party in Nigeria,” he said.</p>
<p>The former CBN deputy governor explained that he currently focuses on leading the Institute for Governance and Economic Transformation (IGET) Africa, a non-partisan public policy think tank and executive education academy.</p>
<p>He also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Sogato Strategies, a geopolitical risk and regulatory strategy advisory firm.</p>
<p>“I remain committed to my country, Nigeria and its progress, but such commitment does not have to entail any partisan alignment. I have adopted the path of statesmanship, not partisanship,” he said.</p>
<p>Moghalu’s rejection followed Atiku Abubakar’s announcement on Thursday of his 2027 campaign council, in which Moghalu was listed as a member of the policy team headed by Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.</p>
