
Minister of State for Education, Prof Suwaiba Ahmad, says education is a key priority for President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST on Thursday, Prof Ahmad said the president asked the ministry to ensure it reached an agreement with the Academic Staff Union Universities, ASUU.
She was speaking on the recent Memorandum of Understanding between the Federal Government and the public universities’ lecturers.
“Education is a priority for the president, and he called to ask what we need to ensure we reach an agreement between the FG and ASUU.
“We told him the terms of our negotiations, and he approved.
“Before we entered this agreement, President Bola Tinubu was briefed on this and he agreed to this.
“He gave us the go-ahead to include our agreement with ASUU in the budget As said earlier, it depends on the work done before the agreement.
“As a government, if you have the political will and interest at heart that whatever you negotiate, you have the final say and the interest and passion to implement them,” she said.
