Borno police disburse N18.3m to families of fallen officers


The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has disbursed a total of N18.38 million to families of police officers who died in the line of duty under the Nigeria Police Force Group Life Assurance Scheme.

According to a statement issued by the public Relations Offficver of the command, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the sum of N18,384,135.84 was paid to nine beneficiaries comprising next-of-kin and family members of deceased officers.

The statement noted that the officers “paid the supreme price while serving the nation with courage, dedication, and professionalism,” adding that the disbursement was part of broader welfare schemes available to families of fallen personnel.

Speaking during the cheque presentation ceremony on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, CP Abdulmajid said the welfare of officers and their families remained a top priority of the Force.

The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the funds, advising that they be channelled towards “the education, healthcare, and general wellbeing of their families.”

He also commended the Inspector-General of Police for sustaining the scheme, noting that such initiatives provide “critical financial relief and long-term stability to the families of fallen heroes.”
