Abia govt inaugurates committee to protect students in schools


Former Super Eagles captain, Sunday Oliseh has named Calvin Bassey as the Nigerian player who has impressed him the most in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Morocco.

Abia State government says it has inaugurated the Abia State Safe Schools Steering Committee to protect lives and property in Abia State educational institutions.

Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu disclosed this on Monday at Government House while speaking to journalists on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

He said that the inauguration of the safe schools steering committee was in response to emerging security concerns around the country.

“This is in response to the growing need to safeguard educational institutions in the state, following emerging security concerns around the country.

“During the inauguration, it was highlighted that the committee will serve as a multi-sectoral strategic platform to coordinate state-level implementation of the Safe Schools declaration”, the Commissioner said.

The committee, he said, would also develop and monitor safety and protection protocols for schools across the State and would engage stakeholders from the education, security, humanitarian and civil sectors and to mobilise financial and technical resources for safer learning spaces across the Abia.

He further announced that 28,213 persons applied for the approved 4,000 jobs in the second batch of teachers recruitment in the State, noting that the State government would soon shortlist the successful persons. a rock. If you throw anything at him, he will handle it well.

Bassey will hope to lead the Super Eagles to victory when they face Morocco in the AFCON semi-final on Wednesday.
