Yobe varsity engineering student slumps, dies after writing exams


Maryam Lawan, a student of the Yobe State University, Damaturu, Maryam Lawan Goroma, slumped and died shortly after writing her examination on Thursday.

A classmate of the deceased, Bukar Maisandari, disclosed this on his Facebook account recently.

He added that the deceased suddenly collapsed and was confirmed dead shortly.

Accordingly, Maryam, a Chemical Engineering student, was alive and kicking until Thursday, when she collapsed and eventually died.

He posted, “Innaa Lillaahi Wa Innaa Ilaihir Raaji’uun. I received with a heavy heart the news of the sudden death of our classmate Maryam Lawan Goroma.

“She was healthy and hearty until this afternoon when she suddenly collapsed and was confirmed dead shortly”.

Recall that on April 12 2023, a Kwara State College of Education student identified as Aminat Tajudeen slumped and died while receiving lectures.

Meanwhile, while no autopsy had confirmed the reasons for the deaths, the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, had on Wednesday lamented the state of Cardiac care in Nigeria.
