The move by the Kwara State government comes after the National University Commission (NUC) directed tertiary institutions in the country to suspend academic activities for a period of three weeks, to enable students and staff members whose voting areas are outside their school/workplace, to partake in the electioneering process.
Announcing the transport relief, the Kwara state commissioner for tertiary education, Alabi Afees Abolore, in a statement issued by his press secretary, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, explained that the support will be monetized and transferred to the beneficiaries after verifications.
Also, the state Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, announced a free bus palliative for students of Unilorin and Kwara State Polytechnic which began on Monday, 13th February 2023, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 am and between 3 pm and 6 p.m. (Mondays to Fridays). The free buses will ply specific routes to be used by students and staff of tertiary institutions in the capital city.
