Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has reiterated his commitment to the welfare of students and youth in Ekiti State as he flagged off the documentation process for the disbursement of twenty-two million, three hundred and fifty thousand naira scholarship award for Law School students of Ekiti origin.
The Governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Science and Technology, Dr Kofoworola Aderiye said that his administration would continue to give priority attention to the education of Ekiti indigenes and encourage them to boost their academic pursuits.
“Although this is coming a little bit late, this is not deliberate and I’m sure you all know 2020 was a special year globally because of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, but as a responsible and responsive government, we have to still pay you because we’re committed to our promises,” the governor said.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money and admonished them to give back to the society that has made them.
Olomojobi advised them to be good ambassadors of Ekiti state wherever they find themselves and always have it in mind that the government and people of Ekiti are waiting to see and hear their names as one of the most celebrated lawyers in the country and the world at large.
The Permanent Secretary charged the beneficiaries of the scholarship fund to display the excellence that Ekiti State is known for wherever they may find themselves globally.
In her welcome address, the Executive Secretary, Ekiti State Scholarship Board, Mrs Bosede Jegede emphasized on the interest of the governor over the scholarship as she encouraged the beneficiaries to take the opportunity as a chance to have the world into their hands and be disciplined.
Mrs Jegede appreciated the state government for creating an enabling environment for assisting the less privileged members of the society to attain their aspirations with ease.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Barrister Emmanuel Folayan appreciated the state government for fulfilling its promise made on the scholarship and promised to make Ekiti State proud in their endeavors.
