Tafawa Balewa’s daughter, others appointed heads of agencies in Bauchi


Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the appointment Dr Yalwa Tafawa Balewa, daughter of late Nigerian Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, as the new Head of Bauchi Agency for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (BASOVCA).

Tafawa Balewa replaces Mrs. Hassana Arkila, who was suspended on 18th October 2021 over alleged misconduct.

The late PM daughter’s appointment and those of the other five heads of agencies as well as 15 special advisers were contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, and made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday in Bauchi.

According to the statement, the appointees were appointed based on their respective track records, adding that each had since been deployed in their respective positions.

Gidado said that the special advisers are: Hashimu Yakubu; Professor Sani Malam; Sanusi Isa; Danladi Danbaba; Abdon Gin; Ahmed Mohammed and Tukur Adamu.

Others are: Maula Aliyu; Zainab Rufai; Kefas Magaji; USA Babayo; Abubakar Salihu; Abubakar Faggo; Garba Kawu and Adamu Madaki.

“The heads of agencies are – Babayo Madara, State Rural Water Supply Agency (RUWASSA), Dr. Sambo Alkali, Hospital Board and Yalwa Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi Agency for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (BASOVCA).

“Others are – Nasiru Hamma, Chairman, Bauchi State Nomadic Education Agency (BASANE), Dr. Abdurrahaman Idris, Executive Secretary, Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and Mas’udu Aliyu, Chairman, Drugs Consumables Agency,” the statement read.
