Universities in America admit 13,000 Nigerians annually – US Embassy

About 13,000 Nigerian students are admitted in the United States of America yearly.

US Consulate Public Affairs Officer, Stephen Ibelli made the disclosure on Tuesday.

Ibelli spoke at the launch of the ‘Windows on America’ Hub at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Awka.

The official described Nigerians as one of the most dominant immigrant groups in the US.

The PAO said the hub will promote understanding between the two countries, and knowledge of American government, history, culture and education.

“We have about 13,000 Nigerians admitted to study in the U.S. yearly. This shows that both nations share diverse cultural uniqueness,” he noted.

Ibelli thanked NAU management for the partnership in setting up the hub.

The Vice-Chancellor, Okechukwu Esimone recalled that establishment plans began in December 2018.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the American Embassy and the university in July 2020.
