Cross River govt shut down UNICROSS indefinitely


The Cross River State Government has closed down her University, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) indefinitely.

This was announced by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services, Governor’s Office, Dr A.A. Mboto in a public announcement sent to media houses.

Dr Mboto said, “This is to inform the general public that the Cross River State Government is aware of the ongoing plan by hoodlums and some students who are non-indigenes of the state in the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) to carry out destructions in the university”

He disclosed that, those suspected to be involved in the recent killing in the university have been identified and arrested.

“It was discovered during interrogations that the suspects were neither indigenes of the state nor students of UNICROSS.

“The institution has been closed for now, so no Student is expected to be in the Campus. Any student that stays back is doing so at his or her own risk.

“Cross Riverians are hereby, urged to stand up and defend the Institution from being destroyed by these non-indigenes as was the case during the #Endsars protest” he pleaded.

Dr Mboto further disclosed that Gov Ben Ayade, the state Governor has directed all security agencies in the State to go after the perpetrators of the said act and the ongoing plan.

“And anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law and commensurate consequences for their actions,” he stated.

The permanent secretary advised members of the public to desist from carrying out this evil plan as there would be no hiding place for anyone found culpable.
