1. Former Minister of State for Education, Professor Jerry Agada is dead.
Agada was confirmed dead on Tuesday morning at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Makurdi, Benue State, aged 68.
2. The Government of Anambra State has suspended the activities of all night clubs in the State from Wednesday, December 23, 2020.
According to the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C.Don Adinuba, the ban will last for one month, and would help stop close interaction among citizens and people from huge risk countries, who will be coming home for the Christmas and New Year celebration.
3. The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended five stalwarts of the party indefinitely.
The chieftains of the party, who were suspended indefinitely over alleged anti-party activities, included the former Chairman of the party, Ebenezer Alabi and former Publicity Secretary of the party in South West, Ayo Fadaka.
4. The Department of State Services (DSS) has alerted Nigerians about plots by “enemies of state”, to unleash terror on places of worship as well as recreational centres during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
It said the plot would be executed through the use of explosives, suicide bombing and other dangerous weapons.
5. President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the mandate of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 until March 2021.
The President, who made this known when he received members of the PTF, who were in the State House to submit the end of the year 2020 report to him, said Nigeria cannot afford to lose the gains of the past nine months in the fight against the pandemic.
6. Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday, sacked education secretaries in the 23 local government areas of the State.
El-Rufai explained that there was a need to adjust personnel cost, and deepen reforms in the education sector in the State.
7. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Tuesday struck again on the Benin-Auchi road and abducted an unspecified number of passengers.
The gunmen were said to have attacked an Abuja bound commercial bus traveling from Benin between Ehor and Iruekpen.
8. Armed bandits have killed seven persons in Gbaja, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to the State government, residents of the area gave the names of those killed in the attack as: Samson Hassan, Nuhu Hassan, Ali Hassan, Tsoho Wasa, Gabriel Ahmadu, Dogara Sarki and Shekwolo Yohanna.
9. Seventeen persons have been killed in a fatal motor accident that occurred in Irepene Abuja/Lokoja highway in Kogi State on Tuesday.
It was reliably gathered that the accident was between a Toyota Hiace bus and a luxury bus which had passengers heading towards the South-South and the northern flank of the country.
10. No fewer than three persons were said to have been killed during a clash between some suspected smugglers and operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun State Command.
The incident, it was gathered, happened on Tuesday at Kikelomo, Ayetoro, the headquarters of Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun State.
