Call for Research proposals: 2016 UNN TETFund Institution Based Research Fund

On behalf of the UNN TETFund Committee and the Senate Research Grants Committee, I announce a call for the 2016 UNN TETFUND Institution Based Research Fund(IBRF).

Deadline is May 31, 2016. Maximum budget is two million Naira (2,000,000 Naira) perproposal.

Please, all Research Groups are encouraged to submit at least one research proposal. However, multiple research proposals are also allowed per research group.

All research proposals should be submitted by email to Prof Anene (Chairman UNNTETFund Committee) <boniejoe2006@yahoo.com> and copied tounnresearch@unn.edu.ng.  In addition, five hard copies of each research proposalshould be submitted to the UNN TETFundCommittee through the UNN TETFUND Desk Officer at the VC's office complex on or before 31st May 2016.

All submitted proposals will be initially reviewed by the committee for scientific merit and all successful proposalswill be returned to the principal investigators with reviewers' comments for final revision before submission to TETFund in June 2016. 

The UNN TEFUND Committee and the Senate Research Grants Committee will facilitate the revision and finalisation of research proposals that are recommended for possible funding by the committee.

The summary of the procedure for the IBRF is provided in the body of this mail and the detailed document is attached to this mail. The application template is also attached herein.

Summary of the procedure:

· TETFund gives allocation for IBR annually. This allocation however is domiciled inTETFund and only released for execution of the project after the proposal has been approved.

· A maximum of N2,000,000.00 is approved/project

· There is no restriction in the thematic areas under IBR – Arts, Humanities, Scienceand Technology, Education, etc

 Eligibility Criteria

· Lecturers in all public tertiary institutions in Nigeria are eligible to access IBR fund

· The research must be conducted in the submitting institution

2.4 Submission of Research Proposals

Submission of research proposalswill be done at two levels:

2.4.1 At the Level of the Institutions

· Research proposals shall be submitted to the Institution’s Committee on Researchwho will screen the proposals based on the following criteria:

Ø Having followed the prescribed format

Ø Quality of content of proposal which could be assessed based on the following:

- Executive summary

- Title

- Introduction

- Objectives

- Literature Review

- Methodology that can be replicated including methods of data analysis

- Detailed work plan including estimated dates of commencement and completion

- Detailed budget not exceeding N2,000,000.00

· Approved proposals shall be given back to the researcher(s) where there are

corrections. Such proposals shall be vetted by the ICR for compliance and thereaftersigned by the Chairman of the Committee
